"DNA Replication Game"

You must complete the following before the day of the game (20 pts individual):

Make cartoons to summarize DNA replication. Use as few words as possible

On the day of the game you will receive a group grade (50 pts) on the following:

If everyone in the class has completed the assignment above (10 pts)
Your organization/presentation(10 pts)
(rehearse, rehearse, rehearse) -creativity and props are a plus

Scientific accuracy and detail (30 pts)
Make labels so that I can tell who is who
Speak loudly and distinctly. I will be videotaping and grading you from the tape

Other msc. info and roles:

• DNA & RNA will be represented by toilet paper. Use 1 color for old DNA a second color for newly synthesized DNA and a third color for RNA.
• Create labels for the 3' and 5' ends, origin of replication,
• You will need individuals to play the roles of DNA polymerase, DNA ligase (I will provide scotch tape for making covalent linkages), DNA polymerase I (which will remove the RNA primers). You may need more than 1 person for some of these roles!
• Other individuals, who are not playing the roles listed above will act as nucleotides in the new strand of DNA. They should use their right arm to act as 5' end. The left arm should be used to form hydrogen bonds. These individuals should be labeled A, T, C, G. The other strand of toilet paper (old DNA) should have corresponding labels
